Fisherman’s Wharf Park

The City of Victoria has retained MDI for the feasibility analysis, detailed design, and construction management of  a stream daylighting project within an existing urban park, located in downtown Victoria.

We are responsible for developing concept designs, assessing biological values for freshwater ecosystems, integrating people into the stream/park design, site grading, planting and landscape plan development.  MDI is presently working on the design of the park, which includes developing multifunctional landscape designs that integrate aesthetic value with functionality. Parks, open space, and trails need to integrate with and contribute to the livability of local neighbourhoods, and function to facilitate pedestrian movements in a safe and sustainable manor, manage rainwater, enhance wildlife habitat, and have therapeutic/aesthetic value.  We believe that there is significant long term value in these types of functional and dynamic places and landscapes.  By developing an integrated landscape system,  we are providing improved cost effectiveness, a green image to the community and reduced long term maintenance costs.
MDI is also responsible for developing graphic materials to test designs and communicate the design intent.
