Trent Street

Trent Street Rain Gardens
MDI designed this streetscape rain garden, the first municipal rain garden developed by the City of Victoria. The City’s objectives were to implement and monitor a demonstration streetscape rain garden project and use it as a model or template for rain garden development throughout the City.
MDI developed concept designs, sizing criteria, details, construction documents, and oversaw construction of the project. The rain gardens treat surface runoff from most of the Trent Street Surface (from Fort Street all the way down to the rain gardens) and are designed to handle a 2-year rain event.
In addition to rainwater and pollution management, these multifunctional planters also narrow the road, calm traffic, separate pedestrian from vehicular traffic and create wildlife habitat.
