Hope Farm

Hope Farm Framework Plan
MDI was retained in 2007 by the Mustard Seed to lead a site planning and design intensive or ‘charette’ exercise at their farm property in Duncan, BC. A vision for creating a sustainable, restorative facility for recovering addicts took shape through the vision and leadership of Tom Oshira and Chris Riddell, the Mustard Seed’s director and the pastor for Hope Farm Healing Centre, respectively. The Mustard Seed asked MDI to help articulate the vision for Hope Farm and to explore how the vision would take shape on the ground. A series of intensive workshops were conducted with key staff, and then MDI developed a framework plan for the farm in collaboration with Masselink Environmental Design. The plan is now in the process of being implemented on a phased basis. MDI has continued to work with Hope Farm pro-bono, in support of this exceptional undertaking.
