The District of Saanich was awarded provincial funding to complete road infrastructure upgrades along Cook Street between Maplewood Road and Quadra Street. A ‘complete streets’ approach was used in the design process, resulting in a road cross section that includes bicycle lanes, wide sidewalks, vehicle lanes and stormwater management infrastructure. Several rain gardens are positioned along the corridor, and a small pedestrian plaza was included midway as a community gathering space.
