The Green Shores Program 'promotes sustainable use of coastal ecosystems through planning and design that recognizes the ecological features and functions of coastal systems'. In 2007, MDI joined the Green Shores Rating Credit Peer Review Working Group. MDI collaborated with a diverse group of experts to write objectives, requirements, and strategies for the credit rain system.

 

In 2012, MDI provided services as Technical Advisor to the Green Shores for Homes credit rating system development team, which will be implemented as a model for shoreline development in British Columbia and Washington. In 2013, MDI served as an independent assessor for a Green Shores pilot project with the BC Stewardship Centre.
