The Marigold Redevelopment transforms a former seven-acre plant nursery into a resilient mixed-use community grounded in ecological stewardship and high-quality outdoor spaces. The site sits adjacent to the Pat Bay Highway and only 800 metres from a sensitive marine estuary, making rainwater quality a central design driver. MDI collaborated with the client to develop an integrated stormwater system that slows, filters, and cleans runoff through rain gardens, planted corridors, and a tree-lined berm that also provides effective noise attenuation. The landscape master plan incorporates a new community park with play areas and lawn, urban tree planting, commercial patios, and generous bicycle facilities, all connected by accessible pedestrian routes. The result is a renewed neighbourhood hub where residential and commercial uses coexist within a restorative, environmentally responsive landscape.
